Forward Watch, October 9

Team Rubicon prepares for Hurricane Delta and a new operation starts up in Oregon to help communities affected by wildfire.

Hurricane Delta

Team Rubicon is monitoring Hurricane Delta and positioning to respond. Delta is expected to make landfall in Cameron Parish, Louisiana–the same area where Hurricane Laura came ashore just weeks ago.

An eight-person Route Clearance team has been staged in Houston with the expectation to begin work on Saturday. Recon for this operation is underway.

Any work needed after Hurricane Delta will be rolled into the work orders at Lake Charles, LA and Orange, TX. Team Rubicon’s priority will be on route clearance and re-establishing the forward operating bases for the Hurricane Laura operations.

Hurricane Laura

Greyshirts on the ground in Lake Charles, LA and Orange, TX have made a tactical retreat to Houston where they will be safe from Hurricane Delta. All equipment will be moved to the Houston Rebuild facility.

Although Team Rubicon is evacuating the area, we will be back to help these communities recover from the aftermath left by Hurricane Laura and the potential devastating impact of Hurricane Delta as quickly as possible.

Hurricane Sally

In Robertsdale, Alabama and Pensacola, Florida, Team Rubicon has completed 39 work orders and served over 87 residents affected by Hurricane Sally.

There are still 17 open work orders including 10 debris removals and 12 chainsaw operations.

Oregon

Team Rubicon will deploy Greyshirts to the towns of Rainbow and McKenzie Bridge, Oregon – communities affected by the Holiday Farm Fire.

They will provide debris management, clear hazardous trees, support temporary housing, and assist local authorities with the donations that have been received.

This operation is expected to last 14 days with 25 Greyshirts daily.
