COVID-19

Forward Watch, June 24

Team Rubicon adds another mobile testing site in California as COVID-19 cases in the state increase.

Team Rubicon has 67 COVID-19 response operations underway with five more in the planning stages. Already, 173 operations have been completed.

InternationalOver 9.2 million cases of COVID-19 and over 477,000 related deaths have been reported worldwide. In Latin America, the disease continues to surge. Brazil alone has seen 1 million cases and 500,000 deaths. In the Middle East, Saudi Arabia is lifting restrictions after three months of lockdown while Iran is mandating the use of facemasks in public to combat a resurgent outbreak.

United States: Nearly 2.4 million cases of COVID-19 and 123,000 related deaths have been reported in the U.S. Over half of all states are seeing significant spikes that experts say cannot merely be attributed to the increase of testing. The President has signed an executive order suspending several types of international work visas in an effort to bolster the domestic workforce during the economic fallout of COVID-19.

How Team Rubicon is Responding to COVID-19

Team Rubicon is answering requests for assistance from local, state, and federal partners to support emergency humanitarian relief efforts in communities across the country. Our response focuses on ensuring access to nutrition, medical care, and essential government services for people who have been impacted by the pandemic. We’re putting safety first and following precautionary guidelines on every operation to protect the health of our volunteers and the communities they serve.

In addition to our organized operations, Greyshirts have performed 5,719 individual acts of service on a local level as part of our Neighbors Helping Neighbors initiative. They have also made 771 no-cost food deliveries to immunocompromised individuals and their families through the Emergency Food Assistance Program.

Our New Coronavirus Response Operations

Bell, CA

Team Rubicon is helping the California Governor’s Office meet its goal for comprehensive, statewide COVID-19 testing. As part of this effort, Greyshirts will support the set-up and operation of a mobile testing site.

Sandy, UT

Greyshirts are helping to disassemble a 500bed hospital overflow facility that was erected to take pressure off the area’s healthcare infrastructure. As the facility is no longer needed, resources from the disassembled site will be moved to communities where they can be put to use.

Washington

Through Team Rubicon’s partnership with Feeding America and close work with other local food banks, Greyshirts are providing manpower and organizational support to help meet an increased need for meal distribution programs in these communities:
